Betty Candy Scott

Artist and subject

I do not disappear into the picture.

My name is Candy Scott. I am also known as Lola Josa, and in the gallery as Betty Candy Scott. I am an actress, a model, and the author of these images. Not a body lent out. The body that decides.

Each series says the same thing in a different material. Glitter and violet foil. A black veil on a white piano. Pearls held in the mouth. Plastic torn between the teeth. Liquid latex as armor. Gold rain, cord, sparks. The words on the works are plain: force, liberation, combat.

If you have ever been ashamed of your skin, or felt looked at only so something could be taken, these pictures are for you. They do not ask permission to exist. They stay standing, even when bound. Bound Light says it outright: the figure is bound, and still stands.

The prints are unique archival pigment prints, 20 × 30 inches, unframed, with a certificate. Some sessions were photographed with Happy Trigger and Aaron Ran. Provenance includes Nude Art LA. You collect them here, from the studio.
